What is seasonal color analysis?

Personal color analysis finds the colors that suit you best, based on the natural colors of your skin, hair and eyes. The wrong color washes you out and deepens shadows; the right one brightens your skin and makes you look rested. It looks at three axes:

Warmth

Is your undertone warm (golden, peachy) or cool (pink, bluish)? The skin undertone test measures this axis on its own.

Depth

Are your skin, hair and eyes light or deep together?

Clarity

Is your coloring vivid and crisp, or soft and muted? The contrast between your skin and hair counts here too.

Warmth and depth place you in one of four families: warm and light Spring, cool and light Summer, warm and deep Autumn, cool and deep Winter. If one axis clearly stands out, you move to the Light, Deep, Bright or Soft season of that family; if none does, you sit at its heart — the True season.

How to do a color analysis

  1. Face a window with daylight; avoid yellow bulbs and colored light.
  2. Go makeup-free; if your hair is dyed, pull it back so your natural colors show.
  3. Hold different colored fabrics under your face, one at a time (this is called draping). The color that brightens your face and softens shadows suits you; the one that washes you out and makes you look tired doesn't.
  4. Gold vs silver, white vs cream and vivid vs dusty comparisons show your warmth and clarity; the depth of your skin, hair and eyes shows your depth.

This quiz turns those comparisons into 9 questions. Know Me in the Yarvia app measures the same three axes from a single selfie.

Questions

How do I know what season I am?

Look at three things: whether your undertone is warm or cool, whether your skin, hair and eyes are light or deep together, and whether your coloring is clear or soft. Warm and light makes you a Spring, cool and light a Summer, warm and deep an Autumn, cool and deep a Winter; the axis that stands out decides which of the 12 seasons you are.

How accurate is color analysis without a photo?

It's an estimate: the result is based only on your answers, and lighting, screens or hair dye can mislead. That's why we also show your close neighbor season. For a more precise read, Know Me in the Yarvia app measures your undertone, skin depth and color season from a single selfie.

My hair is dyed — which color should I pick?

Pick your natural, undyed hair color — or the one before greying. Your color season comes from your natural coloring.

Is color analysis the same as undertone?

No. Undertone is only the warmth axis; color analysis adds depth and clarity. Two people with the same undertone can be in different seasons.

Are my answers saved?

No. The quiz runs entirely in your browser; your answers are never sent to a server or stored.

Measure it from a photo for a more precise read

This quiz is an estimate. Yarvia's Know Me analysis measures your undertone, skin depth and color season from a single selfie — and lesson and color picks follow that palette.
